A very warm and dry summer, especially through June and July. All three months produced above average temperatures, significantly so during June and July. A very unusual year from a meteorological point of view. Eight months with mean temperatures below the local average, with a ground frosts being recorded locally every month for the first time on record, then to end the year, two record breaking mild months. The mean temperature ended very close to average at 10.2c, (0.2c) Rainfall was very close to average.

An average winter temperature wise with the mean being 4.1c bang on the local average. Rainfall was a little below average at 161.8mm, 89.4%. Some cold spells, though never severe. In total contrast to last year which was bitterly cold, the coldest spring on record, spring 2014 was warm and wet with only a few slight frosts recorded.
A wet March and very wet May made for a wet spring, this despite a very warm and drier than average April. The mean temperature was 10.1c +1.6c of the average, the warmest spring since 2011 (1.9c)

2013 Report.

A cold start to 2013 spring being especially late with an exceptionally cold March. Summer eventually turned out hot, especially through July and August. Overall autumn was warmer than average. Early winter, very mild, but stormy at times. Rainfall was close to the average.  The mean temperature of 9.35c (-0.2c) was a little below average, the coolest year since 2010 (8.75c) (-0.8c)

Summer 2013 Report: Stanton

A very warm and settled summer on the whole producing a mean maximum of 21.6c making it the warmest since 2006 when the mean max was 23.5c. Rainfall although above average producing 214mm (140.1%) of the average, most of this fell over short spells, with 52.9mm of this falling in less than 12 hours on 27th July.

It was the coldest spring here on local record, which go back to 1991. The mean was 6.8c, 1.7c below the average. All 3 month were on the cold side, with march being especially so which also received repeated heavy snowfalls. March and May rainfall was well above average, April was dry so the season ended with close to average rainfall, 168.2 mm, 108%.

The mean minimum was 0.5c. Mean maximum 6.0, mean 3.2, -0.9c of the average. Rainfall total 240.6mm 133%.

Unsettled, cold and wet about sums up Autumn 2012. Rainfall was 128% of the average with November being the wettest month.

The mean temperature was 9.1c, -0.8c of the average, which made it the coldest autumn on local record going back to 1991.

Spring 2012: 

Spring 2012 would prove that stats alone don’t tell the whole story as to how warm, cold or wet it was. March and May were very much on the dry side, receiving only around 60% of expected rainfall, however April was extremely wet and more than made up for the shortfall. The season ended with above average rainfall 122.5%. April  was cold and wet with below average temperatures, also the first half of May was cold with the mean well below the average, however a remarkable heat wave during the 3rd week made for a warm May overall.

A mild winter on the whole, apart from a notable cold spell through early February when there were some very low temperatures. Extremely mild too at times, especially during the late winter period. Rainfall was above average throughout December and January, but well below in February, the season produced 177mm, 97.2%. The mean temperature was 4.6c + 0.5c.

2011  Report: Stanton  

A year of extremes with some seasonal record high temperatures and it was mostly very dry.

January was on the chilly side, while things warmed up through February. Spring was very mild indeed The warmest on local record which go back to 1991 (10.4c +1.9c) All three spring months produced above average temperatures, with April being the warmest with a 4.3c positive anomaly, the warmest April on record. It was dry with just 46.7% of the expected rainfall.

A cool summer overall with the mean being 15.4c (-0.5c) the coolest summer since 1998, (15.1c). Unsettled too, but rainfall was below average through June and July. August began dry, but finished up on the wet side. The eventual total for the season was 145.9mm (95.5%)

The cool summer was followed by a very warm and dry Autumn, (with a mean of (12.35c +2.4c of the local average) (the warmest locally since 2006 (12.4c) It was particularly hot during late September and early October when we had record breaking high temperatures, 28.1c.

There was only just over half the expected rainfall, 59.6%.

A mild start to winter meant the year ended the second warmest on local record (1991) producing a mean of 10.8c, only 2006 was warmer with 11.05c. It was dry over all with 508.6mm of rain, 66.2%.
