Welcome to the home page of Burton weather (Stanton Station) My weather station is set-up in a semi rural garden in the village of Stanton, South Derbyshire, two miles from Burton upon Trent, three miles from the small town of Swadlincote, Midlands, England in the United Kingdom. Altitude: 74 meters A.M.S.L. Latitude 52o 47’ N, Longitude 1o 36’W. The site incorporates equipment, which meets Met Office specifications, see Equipment for more details
The position is moderately sheltered to the northeast by hedges and trees, which borders farmland and fields.
On my site you will find detailed information on local weather, i.e. daily, weekly and monthly reports and historical data which can be found the archives.
I also produce a daily weather forecast and an outlook for the Burton-on Trent district and surrounding areas.
My interest with the weather goes way back to the 1960’s when I was just a young boy. I think maybe it was the very harsh winter of 1962-63 which sparked my interest, although I am interested in all aspects of the weather, I have a love for cold weather and snow in the wintertime.
Recently severe winters have returned to the British Isles, there is some debate over what may be the cause. You may gain some insight by clicking on the link below, there you will find a recent article written by me which appeared in the Derbyshire magazine.
